Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean
Wednesday March 6th 7.30pm $15

LEGENDARY ACTOR JAMES Dean’s sexual orientation has been debated in the decades since his untimely death in a car accident in 1955. Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean is a fearless, intimate portrait of James Dean on the cusp of becoming both a great actor and an outsider icon. Set in the early 1950s and focusing on Dean’s experiences as a rising star in Los Angeles, the film’s surreal and dreamlike vignettes blend biographical and fictionalized elements to present pivotal moments in his short yet remarkable life.
The film’s rich and sensuous cinematography transports you into a titillating and intoxicating world while James Preston (The Gates) captures the confidence and the talent of the 20-year-old Dean, but also his appetite for fame, intimacy, and sex from both men and women. Also starring Erin Daniels, The L Word, and Robert Gant, Queer As Folk
