Local filmmaker Michael Weatherhead asks how would you explore a war zone that defines who you are? With a burning desire to find meaning and hope in the Middle East conflict, Palestinian-Australian, Fetah Sabawi goes on a personal journey through emotional and political terrain to his ancestral homeland to Gaza at the heart of the conflict. Born on a refugee camp in Jordon, Fetah came to Australia at the age of seven. While embracing Australian culture, he is still an Arab and a Muslim. Having begun to explore his roots, now at 35, he wants to dig deeper into the tragic political landscape that defines his origin.

2007’s most awarded film comes to Byron Bay. Cliff and Charlie work together selling bathroom supplies. Charlie’s the seasoned traveller, having been to over 50 countries before his 30th birthday. Cliff dreams of travelling but always finds an excuse not to go. When Charlie asks Cliff to go to the Full Moon Party in Thailand, it is no surprise to anyone when Charlie is rejected. Things suddenly change when Cliff gets a phone call informing him that one of his childhood friends died unexpectedly. At the funeral, he learns his buddy had been planning a trip around the world and so he decides to make sure his friend still makes that trip, even if it means carrying his ashes in a thermos. Together, all three embark on a trip of a lifetime. The ultimate backpacking movie.
