Filmed over the course of five years, The Temple Builder paints a deeply intimate portrait of the man behind the myths; from his incredible art car and collage work, to the powerful spiritual centres he creates in the Black Rock Desert, to his courageous work in San Raphael, CA for the benefit of day-labourers. Best's work powerfully impacts the people around him. This is the story of creation, evolution and of a man meeting his artistic destiny head on.  He is helped by his amazing family, his all-volunteer crew, and the community which brings the projects to ultimate completion every year just before it is set ablaze and forever moved onto the gallery of the heart and of legend.
