COLD WATER SIRENS is a community-driven short film about what cold-water surfing truly looks, sounds and feels like.

Built from every day stories, it follows a group of female surfers in Northern Denmark preparing for a surf day: From frozen locks and flat car batteries to laughter, anticipation and the challenge to actually catch a wave in daylight.

The soundtrack by local artist Sara Sandahl picks up the playfulness and excitement, while at the same time echoing the melancholy of cold mornings and grey horizons up in the North.

The film shifts the attention away from spectacle and towards the in-between moments. It’ s not about performance, more about community in cold waves and showing up, no matter what.
