Flowing Wood is a documentary that follows Dean, a solo traveler, surfer, and artist from Northwest Australia, who creates stunning aerial seascapes on wood using materials sourced from the very beaches he visits. Through his journey of crafting art on the road, Dean explores themes of connection to nature, solitude, and healing. After losing a close friend to a shark attack, he turned to art as a form of therapy, finding solace in creativity. As he transforms weathered slabs of wood into breathtaking depictions of the ocean, Flowing Wood captures the raw beauty of his process, the challenges of working in the elements, and the deep emotional connection between art, place, and memory.
