Before his passing in 2021, legendary Yolŋu actor David Gulpilil asked his family to lay him to rest on his Homeland of Gupulul in Arnhem Land. Acclaimed internationally since his debut in Walkabout (1971), he spent his life navigating two worlds - his traditional Yolŋu culture and the global film stage. This film follows his extraordinary final journey, covering thousands of kilometres by land, sea, and air, as his family undertake the immense logistical challenge to honour his wish. Along the way, ancestral ceremonies, song cycles, and the guidance of clan leaders ensure his spirit returns safely, offering rare and profound insight into Yolŋu culture and a deeply moving homecoming.
