At the meeting of salt and fresh water, Spirit of the Threshold River conjures the river as witness, storyteller and living archive. Filmed along Yarrawali Birrinba, the mighty Clarence River on Yaegl Country, dancers move through wetlands, tides and shifting landscapes, embodying loss, memory, grief and renewal.
Blending contemporary dance, moving image and the elemental presence of the river, the film moves between form and formlessness, intimacy and vastness, surrender and transformation. Bodies become flood; gesture becomes memory; the river becomes a threshold between what has been lost and what might emerge.
