THE FOX              

Nick (Jai Courtney), the affable heir to a wealthy rural landowner, discovers his fiancée Kori (Emily Browning) is cheating on him and wants nothing more than to somehow fix the problem.

One night, he captures a rogue Fox, voiced by Academy Award winner Olivia Colman, who offers him an extraordinary trade. If Nick lets her live, she will help him save his relationship. All he has to do is push Kori into a magic hole with the power to transform her into the perfect partner.

Nick follows the Fox’s advice and the Kori who re-emerges seems to be everything he ever wanted. But as increasingly strange new quirks begin to surface, he starts to question exactly what he has done, and what else might have been unleashed.

Written and directed by Dario Russo, creator of cult favourite Danger 5, THE FOX boasts a stellar Australian and international cast led by Jai Courtney and Emily Browning, alongside Damon Herriman, Miranda Otto, Claudia Doumit, Heather Mitchell and Frankie J. Holden, with Sam Neill as the voice of the Magpie and Olivia Colman as the Fox.

Darkly funny, strange and wildly original, THE FOX takes the familiar desire to change the person we love and pushes it somewhere altogether more dangerous. Drawing on the traditions of the folktale, Russo blurs the boundaries between the human and the wild, exploring love, desire, control and our attempts to tame both nature and one another.
