BBFF2017 Special Events

Our festival always begins and ends with a bang. With many filmmakers attending from Australia and abroad our guest list is extensive so tickets to the public are extremely limited.

Participants got the star treatment at our Red Carpet events. Both of these Gala nights featured exquisite catering from Trattoria Basiloco, so our guests feasted more than their eyes.

Alongside our finest films and fine food there was Prosecco and hand-picked fine wines from Zilzie’s Regional Collection, boutique beverages, great music and great company.

GALA OPENING NIGHT / Friday October 6th

The Red Carpet Gala Opening Night did once again set the scene for last year’s spectacular ten day international film festival. Early Bird Tickets were $75 – with only 120 tickets available to the general public for this special night.

After slipping into a glittering gown, their favourite cocktail dress or party shirt, participants joined us on BBFF’s Red Carpet as we celebrated the start of ten days of screen magic at BBFF2017’s Gala Opening Night – considered by many to be Byron’s most glamorous party.

Besides red carpet grandeur and seeing, The Freedom to Marry, one of the festival’s best films, the ticket price included a pre-film mingle, live music, our fabulous After Party catered by Trattoria Basiloco and signature drinks.

CLOSING GALA PARTY / Saturday October 14th

Sunday October 15th being the final day of film festivities, people seised the opportunity to join us as we winded-down the 2017 BBFF with another Red Carpet Gala Party on Saturday Night, the best night for a party.

Each year, this red carpet event acknowledges and celebrates the creative spirit of all festival participants – including you, our much-valued patrons and supporters.

Raise your glasses to a festival experience like no other – packed full of astounding talent, good vibes and an array of sterling films from Australia and around the world – ten days of innovation, accomplishment and enlightenment.

The 2017 BBFF’s Closing Night Gala was the opportunity to chat to that lauded director of your most loved film of the festival, enjoy Trattoria Basiloco’s delectable menu while sipping on hand selected Zilzie wines and hit the dance-floor.

Each year we hold a special Filmmakers’ Breakfast where Filmmakers are interviewed and stories are shared for ABC North Coast’s listeners over the best meal of the day.

This is the opportunity to get up close and personal with our filmmakers and VIPs –  enjoy the stories behind the films as well a delicious breakfast served with a delicious coffee from the multi-award-winning Byron Bay Coffee Company. Stay for an hour or tune in for the whole event.

Music videos inspire collaboration, bring together creatives and provide a vital calling card for talented directors. A great opportunity to meet some of the filmmakers and musicians behind 20 of the hottest music videos submitted to last year’s festival at a special screening at one of Byron’s iconic venues, the Byron Bay Brewery.

During this event, our 2017 Music Video Award was presented to one of these videos to recognise the collaborative efforts of songwriters and directors.
